[19 Nov] Asia Share In Lanxess '09 Butyl Rubber Sales Likely Above 50%

Demand for butyl rubber is on the rise in Asia--and the world's second largest producer, Lanxess International, expects more than half of its sales this year to be in the region, a senior company executive said Wednesday.
"Last year around 42% of our BTR sales were in Asia, and this year they are likely to be in excess of 50%," Lanxess International Managing Director Ron Commander told Dow Jones Newswires.
He said Asia's annual share ranged between 40%-44% of Lanxess' total sales of butyl rubber over the last three years.
There is strong demand in China, India and South Korea, he noted, and added that use of radial tires is growing rapidly in India.
