Demand for butyl rubber is on the rise in Asia --and the world's second largest producer, Lanxess International, expects more than half of its sales this year to be in the region, a senior company executive said Wednesday.
"Last year around 42% of our BTR sales were in Asia , and this year they are likely to be in excess of 50%," Lanxess International Managing Director Ron Commander told Dow Jones Newswires.
He said Asia 's annual share ranged between 40%-44% of Lanxess' total sales of butyl rubber over the last three years.
There is strong demand in China , India and South Korea , he noted, and added that use of radial tires is growing rapidly in India .
