Vietnam to Gain Big Benefit in Rubber Export in 2010

Vietnam’s rubber export volume this year is expected to hit a three-year-high of 750,000 tons or a year-on-year increase of 3,5 percent while the export price is also forecast to surge strongly, according to industry insiders.

Tran Thuy Hoa, secretary general of the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA) said that the country’s export volume would be driven up by stronger demand from big buyers such as China, Taiwan, and other ASEAN countries

Last year, Vietnam shipped abroad 726,000 tons of rubber, with China taking the biggest share. The neigh-boring country imported as much as 480,000 tons of rubber from Vietnam, or some66 percent of Vietnam’s total export volume.
