Minister of Industry, Charnchai Chairungrueng, has ordered a study into the establishment of independent institutes to promote threee highly competitive industries of the country.
Mr Charnchai said he has instructed Mr Withoon Simachokdee, Permanent Secretary for Industry, to look into the founding of three development institutes to promote the construction, para-rubber and plastics industries. Details of the institutes are to be submitted to the Minister within 30 days for budget allocation.
The Department of Industrial Promotion and the Department of Primary Industries and Mines have been assigned to jointly draw up details of the 'Construction Development Institute' which will provide a full-cycle support to the industry including human resource development. Mr Withoon believed the Thai construction industry has high potential in terms of competitiveness.
As for the Para-Rubber Processing Institute, Mr Withoon elaborated that the institute will focus on product processing and connections with provincial offices to distribute the products to the One-Tambon-One-Product outlets. Meanwhile, the Plastic Product Development Center will focus on value-adding strategies and human resource improvements from the beginning till the end of the production lines.
