Rubber Mart Closes Higher

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian rubber market closed higher today as investors took cue from the uptrend on rubber futures prices on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange and Singapore Commodity Exchange, dealers said.

"The uptrend in the regional markets provided support to the local market and the tight supply remained a contributing factor," one dealer said.

At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for SMR 20 rose 14.5 sen to 1,587.5 sen per kg from 1,573 sen per kg last Friday while latex in bulk edged was unchanged at 1,098.5 sen per kg.

The unofficial sellers' closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 increased 19.5 sen to 1,594.5 sen per kg from 1,575.0 and latex in bulk added 1.5 sen to 1,099.5 sen per kg from 1,098 sen per kg.
