Rubber Board spends Rs 2.66 crore on labour welfare

Kottayam, May 3 :The Rubber Board distributed Rs 2.66 crore for labour welfare activities during the year 2010-11.

According to an official release here today, the scheme benefited 14,561 labourers in the organised and unorganised sectors.
Medical attendance, housing subsidy and group insurance-cum- deposit for labourers were among the labour welfare activities.
The scheme was intended for the improvement of basic amenities and working conditions of the rubber plantation workers.
