Rubber price boost could benefit UK waste processors

Operators of heavy duty conveyors in the rubber industry are set to benefit from an increase in the price of the commodity, which has already begun to manifest itself this year.

The price of natural rubber increased by 15 per cent during the first few weeks of this year, a Deutsche Bank research note seen by Tyrepress.com revealed.

This is set to benefit manufacturers and processors across the rubber industry supply chain, with demand throughout the final quarter of 2010 leaving them confident of a good performance during the opening few months of 2011.
Rubber recycling is set to receive a boost in the West Midlands, after the European Regional Development Fund committed £4 million to the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).

This money will be used to boost recycling infrastructure, including screw conveyors, bulk containers and en-masse conveyors, helping the region recycle a further 500,000 tonnes of waste by 2015.
