Taipei, Taiwan - Cheng Shin Rubber Industry planned to set up a plant to make truck tires in the Changnan Science Park in Changhua County, central Taiwan, but instead will build an automotive tire plant in Touliu`s Yunlin Science Park due to delayed land acquisition. Budgeting approximately NT $6 billion to complete the first-stage construction of the Touliu plant, the tire maker plans mass production to begin sometime in the third quarter of this year, with a daily output of between 12,000 and 18,000 car tires. Meanwhile, Cheng Shin is also speeding up construction of a plant in Chongqing, Sichuan Province, China, that is spread across over 60 hectares, with the first-stage construction and mass production planned for the third quarter and daily output reaching 26,000 tires. The Chongqing plant will supply mainly central and western China, without overlapping target markets of its other automobile tire plant in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, where the daily output is 54,000 automobile tires, the largest factory of its kind in China that sells 70 percent of output locally.
